Why Do Your Boobs Get So Big And Sore During Pregnancy?

As you enter your first-trimester you may notice that your breasts (relatively speaking) are huge!

Not only have they grown a ton already, but they are also super sore and your nipples may also be super sensitive to touch!⁣

Why do your breasts get so big and sore during pregnancy?

Well, in early pregnancy, a bunch of stuff is happening to support your growing baby. You have lots of hormones rushing through your system, including progesterone and estrogen. ⁣

These hormones are causing them to get bigger and that extreme soreness, ouch!⁣⁣⁣
Your breasts will start to grow so that they can feed your baby. The fat layer in your breasts thickens and you grow more milk glands and blood flow increases to them. You might notice that they are more veiny than usual, that’s normal too!⁣⁣⁣

Your breasts will continue feeling heavy or full as the milk ducts develop, and you may need to purchase a larger bra at this time to accommodate your growing size. You may only go up one cup size, or you may go up several. Consider getting fitted so that you can find the right bra size for you.
Some women don’t experience these changes right away. Your breasts might not get bigger until the second or third trimesters! Everyone is different. They might not even be sore at all.☺️⁣⁣⁣
Also, each day your symptoms might fluctuate. Your breasts might be super sore one day and you might feel nothing the next day. Please don’t worry, it’s totally normal for symptoms to come and go! Your body isn’t a machine and your experience might be totally different from other people’s, so don’t compare!⁣⁣⁣

Did your boobs change in size during pregnancy? Were they sore? ⁣

  1. Yesssssssssss. Now that we are doing zoom calls with family during quarantine they look super distorted, as in ridiculous in size. I could do without the camera distortion making them look even bigger

  2. I grew 2 cup sizes! 😱 They were a dead give away that something was amiss during my cycle, before I knew I was pregnant. I grateful that my itty bitties are able to do their job 😂🍼🍼
