When I was pregnant I totally had the attitude that I wasn’t going to ask anyone for advice- especially not my mother. Now I’m calling and texting her at least 1-2 times a day with random questions like- “baby fell asleep and her pacifier is squished under her face, is she going to suffocate?!” 🤣

Not a fan of this comic TBH. Are we not supposed to be confident and happy when things are going well, and ask for help when things are not going well?
I feel like this comic is even implying that the right hand situation is caused by the mom’s hubris on the left hand side. That’s a really toxic message.

Don’t tell me what to do when everything isn’t okay either, unless I specifically ask for advice. Most of the time it’s not the mom being contradictory, it’s that we seek out help or other people’s opinions when we’re open to it. It doesn’t feel great when someone pushes their opinion on you when you didn’t ask for it.

I’m sorry, but the last thing I want when I’m running on 0 hours of sleep is my in-laws badgering me about *scrolls through the list* the danger of my two year old choking on mashed potatoes.

The difference between solicited and unsolicited advice… 🤷
