Me waiting listening to newborn’s grunts, squeaks, coughs during a sleep cycle change, knowing if I peak and check I’ll ruin the delicate balance

Ufff! My kiddo is four months and recently I learned that when he starts crying one hour into a nap I should *not* go and try to shush him back to sleep. Poor guy just wants to be left alone. After a few minutes of fussing he goes right back to sleep. Not doing anything is hard!
this was me last night! my body naturally woke up when baby had been sleeping for about 3 hours. he was doing his grunts and wiggles and his whale tail thumping and i was sure he was about to wake up but i just laid in bed and listened. then by some miracle he went right back into deep sleep so i got up and pumped and was ready and alert when (a whole hour later!) he woke up with a wet diaper! i love when my body is like “okay dude time to get ready” cuz then i’m not disoriented and exhausted when he wakes me up with screams lol
This is me right now.
I’m scrolling Reddit waiting to see if my 5 wk old is actually asleep
Ah yes it’s 4am currently here and I am perusing Reddit listening for all the sounds you mention along with farts – was that one just air? Was that one juicier? Should I check his diaper? Or should I just go to sleep?
Update: 1.5 more hours of sleep before feeding!
