Raising a child has taught me more about myself than anything I’ve ever done. And in that, I’ve grown more than I ever have. I understand why this was kept on-hand in a pocket for all of those years.

The religious aspect is so outdated, but aside from that, it all stands up pretty well. even the two parent thing. it’s less about two parents, and more about consistency and providing a united front between caretakers.
e: to be clear, the assumption that everyone follows a religion and believes in god is what’s outdated. it’s peculiar seeing that again.

I was prepared to do some heavy eye rolling reading this, especially after the first line. But wow I actually love all these points. There is some obvious outdated points like assuming a two parent household, but the point still stands strong. I particularly love #7.

For those that wish, you can easily erase God from #1 and replace the idea of God with “community” in #12 and walk away with the same call to action.
Claire is our Community Manager here at New Moms Forum. A mom of two (almost grown-up babies), Claire has been building and operating community-based websites for almost 20 years. In her downtime, Claire enjoys spending time with her family and drinking copious amounts of red wine!
Instructions lacking for people with daughters.
