I’m sorry I don’t remember if my guys was high or low, but he had other lab markers that indicated osteopenia of prematurity, which can happen after a long stint of TPN

I can’t recall exactly but I believe my preemie had that. They called it “metabolic bone disease of prematurity” which sounds much scarier than it actually is — from what I understand, the levels generally normalize over time. For my son, they x-rayed his wrists and knees to check for rickets and increased his vitamin D dose… By 5 months adjusted age they were satisfied that all his bloodwork showed normal levels.

Our labs from 2 weeks ago came back elevated. There were no signs other than that. Doctor increased the vitamin D intake that will help with calcium absorption. Labs retaken yesterday, and levels improved.

Has anyone else’s kid had elevated alkaline phosphatase? Darren’s level is elevated and they are trying to determine why. All of his other blood results are normal, vitals are good, he’s peeing and pooping like normal, and tolerating his feeds. They just told us they are doing an ultrasound of his kidneys at some point in the next day. They haven’t really been clear on what it could be and what the implications could be for his health. Does anyone have any experience with this?
