My baby was the same way. When he was a newborn he slept so much. He would nurse then fall asleep within 15 minutes. I was so concerned that I started seeing a lactation consultant because I thought he was lethargic from not getting enough breastmilk. I would be on the couch all day watching tv breastfeeding. And he would only wake up once during the night to feed. I watched more tv during the baby’s first few weeks of life than I had in the previous few months. Lactation consultant said his behaviour was normal for a newborn. Now he’s 6 months, barely takes three 20 minute naps during the day and wakes up 2-4 times per night. But it’s all good because he’s a happy baby and my best buddy. Good luck to you!

Very normal. Their little bodies are doing so much adjusting in those early days that they have to sleep a ton. 🙂

My first slept all the time. Such a pain to get him to eat. Now hes a very energetic toddler. My second is a month today. She also sleeps a lot but is waking a little more now. As long as his diapers are good/hes eating then let him sleep

Both of my kids have been sleepy boys. My 8 week old is currently asleep on me, and has been for about two hours.

Don’t stress about it. As long as he’s waking up to eat, and making dirty diapers, try not to worry about it too much. He’ll wake up and be more energetic soon enough.

Howdy folks. Newborn baby boy as title says he’s 18 days.
He has no problem eating. Mom pumps and we bottle feed (every now and again we use formula) every 2-4 hours.
But aside from eating or diaper changes we cannot get him to wake up nor does he wake up on his own during the day. Only from 1a-4a (+/-1).
Everything we’ve read says we’re lucky. Let him sleep. But is that considered being lethargic?
Just worried. Bc of all the horror stories we’ve hear about them NEVER sleeping. But ALL he does is sleep.
Be gentle. It’s my first time.
