I had a girlfriend buy a Snoo because of it’s reviews and also because she could afford it and likes to buy “top of the line” everything. Turned out her baby haaated it. He couldn’t stand being put in it. Didn’t matter how expensive or amazing the thing was – he just would not settle or sleep in the thing. Same with a bunch of the super expensive sleep sacs – can’t stand those either and she probably paid a couple hundred for a handful of them. So I think in her case – as much and she loved the products, the baby didn’t.

For myself – I’m personally planning on getting the Uppababy. I’m sure I could get a similar-quality stroller at a lower cost but I have a handful of girlfriends with the UB and love it, so I’m going with their recommendations. It’s a bit of reassurance for me that I need. Plus I can’t be bothered to read up on a bunch of other options haha. It’s not even the “label” for me, it’s just going off what my circle of friends have already tested out and thumbsed-up.

I have a frugal friend with a 1 year old, so I run all the expensive stuff past her to get her opinion. I haven’t used anything yet, but according to her the Snoo and Tripp Trapp are worth the extra cost, but the MamaRoo is not.

I didn’t want to spend a lot so initially bought the Chico bravo travel system. At one point my baby hated being in there so we couldn’t do stroller walls for a couple months. I didn’t find the stroller to be that comfortable to walk for me – super bumpy and the way the handle angled was uncomfortable on my wrists.

When the pandemic started, I decided to buy the Uppababy Cruz stroller since we were home and doing walks so much more. The Uppababy was night and day better than the Chicco for me. I ended up giving friends the Chicco travel system and got a second hand Mesa car seat and bassinet for my upcoming kiddo to use with the Cruz.

I think it totally depends on if there’s value for you in the extra comfort and how often you think you’ll use the stroller.

I rented a Snoo. It was better than buying because of how limited the use/timeline for it is. My baby would not sleep in crib or another bassinet but did sleep in the Snoo. It got us through several months and helped baby and parents sleep. I had not planned on getting something so fancy but sleep troubles drove us to it.

Mamaroo swing was nifty for me but baby didn’t care about it more or less than another bouncer/swing.

Went moderate on the travel system with Graco and did not feel like anything was missing. Watched endless videos and reviews of the fancy ones and it just didn’t seem worth it.

I’m curious about the expensive baby gear like the Uppababy strollers and the Snoo (among others).

I have friends who have bought them and swear they are great and worth every penny, but I also have friends with kids who say it’s ridiculous and they’d never spend that much money on baby gear. That said, the people in the latter group have not actually ever used these devices.

I am curious to hear from people who did splurge and realize it wasn’t worth it. Seems that the bad reviews about either of the above products are about things like shipping issues with the wholesaler, so nothing to do with the products themselves.

Is there anyone who bought the “top of the line” equipment and really regretted it because the manufacturing/quality/stability was not all it was cracked up to be? I’m interested in these thoughts on other products too. Thanks!
