Hi. I had unexpected bleeding at 11 weeks, and my instinct was to go to the ER right away. I was so sure I was having a miscarriage (because you hear about how common it is) and they were able to check babe out and detect a heartbeat at the ER. I was sent to the early pregnancy clinic the next day to check for the cause of bleeding and to rule out miscarriage. It was really worrisome and I was scared to death. It turns out that I had two subchorionic hematomas and was placed on bed rest for a bit. The bleeding lasted for a good 2-3weeks and had many instances of “gushing”. Fastforward, babe was fine and I had a healthy baby girl in July. So not all bleeding is miscarriage.

If I were you I’d go into the hospital to get checked out.

First trimester bleeding is one of those things that can mean something but doesn’t always. The only way you’ll get a definitive answer is with a blood draw (probably more than one) for hcg levels and maybe an ultrasound.

I want to add in my experience here to help ease your mind while you listen to what the medical folks have told you.

I had several miscarriages before my healthy pregnancy. The blood was generally dark, like the end of a period.

Also to add to that because of course everyone is different, my successful pregnancy had LOTS AND LOTS of bleeding and my boy was always fine. I had placenta previa which caused a lot of the bleeding and a little detachment that never quite healed (I have a connective tissue disorder so that’s a me thing). I would bleed and bleed, it was crazy and nothing could contain it. Baby was always fine.

Hang in there, stay calm as best you can. Get off the internet 😝 and try to calm your nervous system down. I truly hope everything turns out well for you and babe. If not, it happens, your body is protecting you and the baby as it wouldn’t have survived. 💜

    I don’t know what to think…
I am pregnant with my second and am 10 weeks now. We are one of those lucky people where our first baby came on the first month of trying, pregnancy immediately went smoothly (except being sick for 9 months) and delivery also just as smooth.
For our second, we also got lucky the first month trying but it has been a bit more rocky. I had the stomach flu 2 weeks ago, last week I went to the ER and had to stay in the hospital for 3 days because I had sudden pain in my abdomen which they couldn’t find out where it came from. They concluded I probably had some infection but they didn’t know from where and I could go home. The pain was so bad that I could barely walk. After 3 days it was already much better but I could still feel it.

Now to forward to today. Already whole day I’m having cramps like I’m going to get my period. I tried to not think about it but yeah… Whole day went fine, until I went to the toilet just now at 7.30pm. And there was blood. Bright red blood as if my period just started. After 3 wipes there was “just a drop of blood” still on the toilet paper but not that the blood was completely gone. I called our labor&delivery line in the hospital where I go on check-ups and will also give birth (I also gave birth there for our first) and they said to wait it out and see if it gets worse. But I’m super worried now… I still have cramps. I put a pad in my panties to keep track of it. I feel sick (I don’t know if it’s from hunger / morning sickness or from worrying or related to the blood loss)

Anyone else had this? Would love to hear from fellow ladies who had similar experiences and what the outcome was.
