My twins both have stomas and this exact thing happened to them both. They had both gotten to full feeds, their long lines had been removed and a couple of days later they had massive stoma output. My son’s feeds got stopped and slowly increased until they found his threshold, he’s on 4.5ml 2 hourly. My daughters wasn’t quite as dramatic and they were on the look out for it after my son so it was caught quickly. She’s on 9ml 2 hourly. It’s pretty common from what the nurses have told me and quite rare for them to be on full feeds. They did do an xray on my son’s gut to check it wasn’t an underlying problem, it was just slightly irritated from the high output.
