Confused About Pregnancy Weight Gain?

By New Moms Forum, February 18, 2010

I am curious as to where the weight gain comes from. I understand that you have the baby, the placenta, amniotic fluid, and extra blood in your system, but it is that all that your pregnancy weight gain should be made of? If you eat exactly the same as pre-preggo you will still gain the weight? And does your body hold onto more calories when you are pregnant? Is that why some people get REALLY heavy during pregnancy, or do they just overindulge. I really do not want to gain any weight, as I am a lil bit fluffy already, but I know I will. If I eat the same as before, take my prenatals and stay healthy, I should theoreticaly only gain baby weight right?? A lot of questions I know, but thanks!

Pregnancy Weight Gain Vs. Newborn Weight?

By New Moms Forum, February 11, 2010

Just wanted to see the correlation between pregnancy weight gain, and how much their newborn weighed. So how much weight did you gain during your pregnancy, and how much did your baby weigh when they were born??
I gained 50 lbs (yikes!) and my daughter was 8 lbs even.

Pregnancy Weight Gain At 24 Weeks?

By New Moms Forum, February 11, 2010

I’m trying to figure out if my weight gain is normal or not… I feel and look like I’ve only gained about 10 pounds, but according to the doctor’s scale it’s 18!
I know what normal pregnancy weight gain is, 25-35 pounds depending on your pre pregnancy weight, but where should I be NOW, at 24 weeks?
When I went in for my 16 week appointment I had gained 3 pounds, and the doctor had said then I was even slightly behind schedule of weight gain because most women will gain 2-5 pounds in the first trimester and a pound a week from there on, which would have put me at between 4 and 7 pounds weight gain. From that I figured I wouldn’t need to worry a lot about my weight gain since it started slow, but now I’m worrying. The thing is that even after I eat a normal size meal (or what was normal for me pre pregnancy) I am still STARVING.
So basically I’m trying to find personal experiences of weight gain at about 24 weeks pregnant.. I don’t want to have a terrible time getting the weight off after my little guy comes!
I also started out at a weight of 170, I’m not really a big girl, I’m about 5′5 but I wear an E cup bra and was a DD prior to pregnancy which added to my weight a bit, and was about a size 9 pre pregnancy, so I don’t know if I fall into the average 25-35 pounds range.
Any advice would be wonderful… I am trying to watch what I eat a little more but I had a sandwich and chips for lunch with gatorade and am still starving!

Pregnancy Weight?

By New Moms Forum, February 4, 2010

I’m not quite sure if I should be worried. I’m 32 weeks pregnant.
Throughout my pregnancy I’ve had constant morning sickness with only 1 month’s break from it during my 2nd trimester (yes still loving morning sickness right now).
During my 1st-2nd trimester morning sickness, I’d lost nearly 20 pounds.. and went back to my pre-pregnancy weight during my 2nd trimester. I still haven’t gained much at all other than 1-2 pounds and have stayed the same weight for the last month. Is this actually part of that so called pregnancy weight gain recommendation or am I not eating enough?
I’m not dieting or anything.. I haven’t needed to snack all day during my 3rd trimester but just eat the usual 3 meals. I eat less than before but it’s just all I can digest. Plus my midwives don’t do weigh checks and hasn’t said anything.

Have I Gained Too Much Weight In My Pregnancy So Far?

By New Moms Forum, February 4, 2010

I know that a healthy pregnancy weight gain for an average sized woman is 25 to 35 pounds. I’m 26 weeks, and I’ve already gained 23 pounds! I’m walking a lot and trying to eat healthy, but my apetite is RAVENOUS. Do I have any chance of staying under 35 pounds? My doctor says I’m fine and I have nothing to worry about, but people keep telling me how big my baby must be if my belly is this big already. I’m mostly all belly, but my butt has gotten a little bigger.

Is Chiropractic Care During Pregnancy Right For You?

By Connie Limon, February 2, 2010

Pregnancy can put pressure on the sciatic nerve that causes leg pain. Some chiropractors say they are able to resolve this problem. They also say there are techniques that will help ensure a safe and easy delivery.
.
The actual goal with chiropractic care during pregnancy is to make the whole body operate better and not just the high-stress areas affected by pregnancy weight gain in the lower abdomen, hips and breasts. Chiropractors aim not necessarily to relieve the pain, but to make the body function better with adjustments. They also aim to ensure a safe and easy delivery.

You know I think I’m a freak of nature. I actually enjoy eating really healthy and love my Pregnancy Elimination Diet because when I’m on it I feel like my whole being is literally buzzing with good health, even though it means I can’t have a lot of the things that I really like, (like chocolate, marmite on toast and a good latte!).
