<p>	No foods are completely off limits, despite what you may hear.  Moderation is the key.</p>
<p>	A prenatal supplement isnt essential, but it will help with your iron and calcium needs. Prenatal supplements also contain folic acid.</p>
<p>	Unless you starve yourself or binge (neither of which you should do), the amount you gain is generally genetically predetermined.  Dont compare yourself with others or with what is officially recommended; your doctor will tell you if youre gaining too much or too little.</p>
<p>	Eat frequently (six small meals a day, ideally), but also realize you need an average of only 300 calories extra per day during pregnancy.</p>
<p>	Dont deny your- cravings; indulge but try not to go to extremes.</p>
<p>	If you currently exercise, try to keep it up (although you might need to scale back some as you grow).</p>
<p>	Keep your heart rate moderate, drink plenty of water, and avoid risky sports &#8213; you dont want to fall or get kicked in the stomach.</p>
<p>	Abdominal exercises are fine, but there will be a point at which you wont want to do them anymore.  Youll know when you reach that point.</p>
<p>	If you dont currently exercise, theres no harm in starting to walk regularly, taking a pregnancy yoga class, or trying some other enjoyable program.  It will make you feel better and may make your delivery go a little more smoothly.</p>

<p>We experience ourselves as solid physical beings. That is how we perceive the world. When we look at a chair, for example, our brains see a solid entity&#8230;something permanent.</p>

<p>However this is, in fact, false and occurs only because our brains and nervous systems are not capable of registering what is actually taking place.</p>
<p>In reality, everything is energy and information flashing in and out of existence at speeds greater than light. Although we experience life as a continuity (the chair I am sitting is always in this spot), it is in fact a discontinuity flashing on and off.</p>
<p><b>Pregnancy, Birth, Fertility Stories</b></p>
<p>At a recent conference I attended, Deepak Chopra explained that what happens is that the memory of the chair (your fertility, pregnancy, baby and partner etc.) lingers while in the &#8216;off&#8217; phase so we perceive it as always being there in the same way (Deepak Chopra, 2008).</p>
<p>This can be compared to a movie which appears to be a continuous stream of visual and audio information but is in fact a series of still frames..occurring at 24 per second&#8230; which is faster than the brain&#8217;s ability to process. So we see a continuous film instead of the on/off that is really happening.</p>
<p>Our expectations, memories and desires actually shape what is going to happen next&#8230;.what is going to come into existence.</p>
<p>So with regard to fertility, for example, your expectations will have an impact on what will happen for you. The same applies to breastfeeding, birth and parenting. Is it time to change your story? If so, what would you love in birth, pregnancy and parenting?</p>

You may feel a little left out in the beginning but there are some ways that you can join in and help. Your partner is going to be experiencing many different emotions and will need your support more than ever. The baby has taken center stage and the best thing you can do is jump head first into Daddy land.</p>

<p>Help as much as you can around the house, make dinner, change diapers, and give your baby a bath. It will be as much fun for you as it will be for the baby. It also allows you to have time to bond with your precious gem. When the baby is fussy pick him or her up and find your method to calm them. You will be amazed at how much all the little things you do to help will make a difference. It also gives Mom some time to relax and possibly take a nap because she will probably be exhausted.</p>
<p>If your partner decides to breastfeed she may need some encouragement from you. Breastfeeding can be difficult and frustrating in the beginning for Mom. So if your partner is ready to give up because the baby is not latching on to feed and bursts into tears a few words of support will help tremendously.</p>
<p>Lots of hugs with your partner are important. Of course the no sex rule for 6 weeks is always a difficult hurdle but you will both probably be exhausted for the first few weeks so take this time to get as much extra sleep as possible in between night time feedings and diaper changes. Helping with night time duties will benefit both of you. Your partner will be able to get some uninterrupted sleep and be refreshed when its her turn to wake up. She will thank you for that little extra time asleep.</p>
<p>Many new Moms will try to do everything themselves. Make a few calls to friends and family and ask them to check in with Mom or stop by.
